At Swish, we help businesses grow by providing them with the best technologies catered to their business needs.

AAA is the largest insurance company in the United States, with a focus on automotive insurance. The company wanted to diversify their product portfolio and target a new audience: millennials.

Millenials are individuals born between 1980 and 2000. They are a specific consumer cohort with its own codes and consumer patterns:

  • Millenials are often urban and highly digital.
  • Social interactions and community are dominant values of their lifestyle.
  • They emphasize access versus ownership, and this is transcribed in their housing choices too.

AAA’s innovation team decided to reach the target through that last segment: housing. Knowing that finding a flat and roommates can be a major pain-point to that specific target, the team decided to create a mobile application to facilitate the process.

Object of the app: help millennials find a shared house (and roommates) in the Bay area.

End product: insurance offerings catered to millennials.

AAA chose Swish to design the app with the following objectives:

- Help people between 18 and 35 years-old find roommate(s) in a shared apartment

- Create an app with an aesthetic design and a user-friendly interface

- Attract the targeted audience and retain it

Swish assembled a team of top developers and delivered high-quality work within a short 12-week window.

Room8, the app created, generated significant user traction with 100,000+ signups.

Room8, from ideation to digital outcome.

Process:

Swish Labs’ strength lies in coupling top talent with high standards for quality.

After client onboarding, the Product Manager (PM) in charge leads the project for a seamless experience on the client's side, following these steps.

1. Product & Scoping: Setting the premises right.

    • Scoping: The first step of every project. Swish determines the scope of work: business goal, features and core and optional functionalities, critical UI points, user journey, and so on. The scoping document is created in collaboration with the client.
    • Statement of work: A contract stating pricing, timeline and the terms of the partnership with a client. This document allows both teams to work in full transparency and alignment.
    • Staffing: The PM creates the team that will work on the app as well as the schedule of work - sprints.

At Swish, projects are organized around 2-week sprints. This workflow structure guarantees a maximal focus as well as incentive to produce value quickly. We delivered first designs as early as the end of the first sprint.

2. Design: Unique designs for an impactful UX.

    • Navigational wireframes: this is the first template showing the user journey in the app. We use clients needs, specs and project goals to set up the best UX. For AAA, the goal was to attract a specific buyer persona - millennials living in the Bay area.
    • Usability testings: we make sure the app has a comfortable and natural flow for best user experience and high retention.
    • Low fidelity designs: we create the first visual template of the app, in black and white.

    • High fidelity designs: once the low fidelity designs are approved, the team adds the colors and visuals. INSERT IMAGES HERE
    • Interactive prototype: this step allows testers (Swish team, client or testing agency) to simulate the usage of the app for the first time on a phone. We always keep this final step in mind when creating an app.
